I started going to shows before I could walk, and as far back as I
can remember I was always with my mom at dog shows. One of those shows I
saw a whole bunch of kids with their dogs in the ring, and I asked my
mother what that was, and she explained Junior Showmanship to me. I had
no idea what showing/training/breeding entailed at that time, but I just
knew I wanted to do that. So as soon as I was old enough I started
competing in Junior Showmanship with my Siberian Huskies. To this day I
still actively show, sled, hike, and kayak with my Siberian's. We have
an active breeding program, and it is so rewarding showing something you
bred. As soon as I aged out of Junior Show I missed it greatly, it was a
lot of fun being in the ring with your friends. So I applied for my
Judges license and was approved in 2015. It is great being able to give
back to the program that gave me
so much. The AKC Junior Showmanship program taught me many life skills,
as well as those pertaining to the fancy. It is only fair that I give
back what was given to me. I thoroughly enjoy seeing the future of our
sport so active, and love every opportunity I have to help in any way.
Siberians are an AMAZING breed, and I can not imagine my life without
them. I just finished a four year active duty Army contract and am very happy to get back into judging.
