Mr. Augusto Benedicto Santos, III
More familiarly known as "Dinky" amongst his peers, he was born in 1967 to a family of "Animal Lovers".
Dinky has been showing dogs for as long as he can remember. At an early age, he and his siblings would often accompany their Father to the dog shows. Together with his Father and siblings, through the years, he was involved with German Shepherd Dogs, German Shorthaired Pointers, Japanese Akitas, and Bull Terriers before personally getting engrossed with the Labrador Retriever in 1988 until 2008 and presently Welsh Corgi Pembrokes.
Dinky's SUNSHADOW LABRADOR RETRIEVERS is one of the main forces behind the success of the Philippine Labrador Retriever today. He owned the country's (all-breeds) #1 DOG for 1996, #5 for 1995 and #3 for 1997. He has owned and bred more than Labrador Retriever 130 Champions - at least 90 of which are homebred. He also owned the #1 All-Breed "Sire of Champions" in the Philippines who has sired fifty-six (56) Champions - a number yet to be surpassed in the Philippines. Together with his father, they have owned German Shepherds that include four National Siegers (VA1) & one National Siegerin (VA1), some of which have also been ranked highly in the World Sieger Show in Germany. He is presently involved with Welsh Corgi Pembrokes wherein he has bred several Champions and Best in Show winners to date.
He has been a Philippine delegate to the Federation Cynologique Internationale General Assemblies in 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017 & 2019; FCI Asia and the Pacific Section Conferences in 2005, 2007, 2009 & 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017 & 2019.
He was the FCI observer for the FCI Asia and the Pacific Section Shows in 2009 & 2011. He was also a member of the FCI TASK FORCE that was formed in Bratislava in 2009.
He has been a member of the FCI Show & Show Judges Committees since 2010 and the "FCI WORKING GROUP FOR RESTRUCTURING" which was formed in 2015. He also served as WUSV Continental Director for Asia from 2016-2017.
He is currently the President of the FCI ASIA-PACIFIC SECTION and is a member of the FCI GENERAL COMMITTEE. He is also the President of the Philippine Canine Club (PCCI), a position that he has held since 2004. He is also the person behind the now famous, Philippine Circuit Dog Shows.
Dinky started judging Labrador Retrievers in 1996 and became an all-rounder in 2011. He has judged in over 50 countries and in all 7 continents - all over Asia, Europe, North America, South America, the Middle East, Australasia and Africa. He has also judged at many Asian & European Section Shows and World Dog Shows (Bratislava <2009>, Budapest <2013>, Moscow <2016>, Netherlands <2018>, China <2019>). He judged Group 8 at the World Dog Show 2017 in Leipzig and "Best in Show" at the World Dog Show in China (2019). He is scheduled to judge at the European Section Dog Show in Slovenia (2020) & Budapest (2021), The Americas and Caribbean Section Show in Costa Rica (2020) & the World Dog Shows in Spain (2020), Brazil (2021) & Czech Republic (2022).
To this day, he takes pride in being a breeder, an exhibitor, a judge, and, of course, a dog lover. Dinky & Trish together with their Children have 7 dogs at home, all of them sleep in the bedroom, and they run freely around the house.
