Have judged for AKC since 1984, for ASCA since 1978, and for over 14 years judging All Breeds/Groups/BIS for IABCA International and Rare Breeds groups.   Am currently AKC approved for 16 Herding breeds & 2 Non-Sporting breeds (15 are Permit) and All Breed Jr Showmanship.    I grew up as a child with my mom's ASCOB Cockers.   When attending college, my majors focused on comparative evolution, genetics, and biochemistry.   I owned Australian Shepherds from 1961-1994, occasionally showed in ASCA, and bred/exhibited Shelties in AKC conformation from 1966-2017, after having first started in AKC Miniature Poodles and with Shelties in performance.  I worked for 4 years for an all breed PHA handler 1966-1970 showing Collies, Shelties, & other breeds.  I professionally groomed, also agent handled and specialed dogs during the 1970's/1980's, many for a well-known large kennel.  I've attended Nationals and judges study seminars over all these years in many breeds - my goal is to never stop learning.  Judging for the International & Rare Breed shows has provided multiple day judging experiences with over 170 breeds so far, including many rare ones now in AKC or FSS.   In addition, IABCA contacts have provided the opportunity for me to judge specialties in a wide variety of breeds and to judge in Europe.  As a breeder, my main contribution was a BISS Top 20 ROM Sheltie Sire (35 Amer/17 Can CHs), and finishing many of my own and for others.  I've bred BISS and Group winners, along with top performance titled dogs in obedience, herding, and agility.  I was always a very small breeder, never bred a lot of litters, and usually showed my own dogs.   Over the years, in pay-it-forward education,  I have given many programs to specialty clubs, along with over 60 intensive one or two full day seminars in the USA and Canada promoting the practical whys & hows of using genetics in small breeding programs, and about understanding how each breed standard illustrates the unique form-follows-function structure for the purpose of that breed.
